WHAT COVERAGE WILL YOU HAVE?
Eligibility
Applicable to Canadian Students
Studying Abroad or Outside their
Home Province/Territory
At the time of application, you are eligible for coverage if:
You are 40 years and under; and,
You are a Canadian resident; and,
You are a student enrolled full-time or
part-time in a school outside your province/territory of residence; or,
You are a student enrolled full-time or
part-time in a school in Canada but participating in an exchange program at a
school outside of your province/territory of residence; and,
You are not travelling against a
physician or other registered medical practitioners advice; and,
You have not been diagnosed with a terminal condition.
Applicable to Family Members of Students
At the time of application, you are eligible for coverage if:
You are
at least 15 days old and 40 years and under; and,
You are a Canadian resident; and,
You are a family member of a
student who is either insured under a TuGo Student Policy for
Canadian students or meets the eligibility requirements for a TuGo Student Policy; and,
You are not travelling against a
physician or other registered medical practitioners advice; and,
You have not been diagnosed with a terminal condition.
Attention
Canadian students studying outside
province of residence!
You may be
temporarily outside of Canada or your
province of residence for a total of 180
- 212 days (depending on the province or
territory) and still maintain your
provincial health care coverage as long
as your primary place of residence is
still in this province. If you live
abroad more than 180-212 days,
your provincial health insurance plan
may terminate.
To confirm your continuous provincial
health care coverage, you should contact
your local provincial Health Care
Insurance Plan office before you leave
your province.
If you are not covered by a provincial or territorial government health
care plan at the time your claim occurred, any medical and related
expenses in excess of $50,000 are not covered.

Period of coverage
Coverage begins on the later of:
The date and time you depart from your province/territory of residence or Canada; or,
The date and time you depart from your province/territory of residence when travel is
within Canada only but outside of your province/territory of residence; or,
The effective date of the Policy.
Your coverage terminates on the earliest
of the following dates:
11:59 PM on the expiry date of the Policy; or,
On the date and time you permanently
return to your province/territory of residence; or,
60 days after the date and time you are
no longer enrolled in a school or attending
school in an exchange program, outside of your province/territory of residence.
Coverage is available for school breaks as long as the
student is enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in a school.
Visits to your province/territory
of residence are permitted; your Policy will not end,
however, expenses will not be covered while in your province/territory of residence.
Refund
Full refund if prior to the effective date if
student visa is denied / if entry into country is
denied / if non arrival to country of study. Partial refunds are also available.
No refunds are available, if claim has been or
will be submitted. Consult the

Extensions.
You can extend your period of
coverage before your Policy expires. Some
conditions apply.

Mental and emotional disorders are covered up
to the Policy limit for in-patient services under the Emergency Medical Treatment benefit
in the same way that any other medical emergency is covered
Coverage is also provided for out-patient and other services

Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing |
Up to a maximum of $100 for elective testing.
This benefit is available once during a 12 consecutive month period,

glasses, contact lenses and hearing aids, required as a result of an

facility when it is medically necessary after hospitalization |
Exclusions and Limitations.
Student medical insurance does not cover everything. This
insurance has exclusions, conditions and limitations.

A Pre-Existing
Medical Condition
exclusion may apply to a medical condition and/or symptoms that existed
prior to your trip. This policy will not pay any
expenses or benefits relating to a pre-existing condition
that was not STABLE in 90 days prior to the effective date
of the policy.
STABLE means:
the medical condition is not worsening, and
there has been no alteration* in any
medication for the condition or
its usage or dosage,
nor any medical
treatment prescribed or recommended by a physician or
received,
within the period specified in this Policy before
the commencement date of a covered trip.
(Alteration includes
an increase or decrease in medication dosage, usage or a
change in medication type, but does not include changes due solely to the
availability of your usual brand or due to government
regulations regarding reference-based pricing.
Some other exclusions:
Conditions or any related conditions for which,
prior to your arrival date in Canada or the
country of study, testing or investigative
consultation took place, was scheduled to take
place or was recommended for the purpose of
establishing a diagnosis (not including routine
check-up or routine monitoring for a stable
condition), and for which results had not yet
been received at the time of departure from your
home country. This includes tests, which were
recommended or scheduled prior to departure, but
had not yet taken place at the time of
departure.

What to do
if you get
sick or injured
Have your policy confirmation with you at all times. In the
event of sickness or injury which may result in claim,
contact Claims at TuGo at the telephone numbers shown on
your policy confirmation and the
Policy
Wording.
When contacting Claims at TuGo, please provide your name, your policy number,
your location and the nature of your emergency.
In the event of hospitalization, call
Claims at TuGo immediately
- it is a condition of this policy.
To apply for
benefits under this policy, you will need to send a
completed claim form (with all original bills attached) to
Travel Underwriters. Visit
